Digipak

Below is my Digipak for the band 'Young Mistakes' the album is also called 'Young Mistakes' as it is there first album. On the Digipak's front cover, I have decided to put the band all in front of a brick wall. The reason for them being in front of this wall is because in their music video for the song 'Alright' they are standing in front of a brick wall at many points. By having the band in front of it on the cover, the audience (if they have seen the music video) will feel more connected with the band and therefore it makes the relationship between the band and audience more personal. The band are all standing naturally as I wanted to make it obviously that, like in the video, they are normal people, doing normal things and that their fans don't need to feel disconnected or any lower than them in any way. By not adding any special effects or using a green screen or having the album look have anywhere too 'high class' on it, the people will understand that the band came from the same roots as they did and are sticking to these roots.
There are two shots of the lead singer, Billy, on his own as although the band are all very close and would have their own profile and fans, he is the face of the band and therefore more known by the public. The shots of him are very natural, with him standing in front of some tree's and a dirty ground. By doing this, he doesn't seem like he is stuck up at all like many other singers.
Both Adam and James have their own shots too, this is because the band isn't just about Billy and they do have a lot to offer for the band. By having their own natural shots, it stops the public from feeling disconnected from the other band members like they do with some other bands. By adding their own part in the Digipak they can all connect with the audience - as opposed to just the lead singer.
Underneath the CD is actually shots of the band, photoshopped together from the music video. I used these particular shots because those that know the music video will recognise these shots as shots from when the band were all having a laugh on camera - which adds to the natural element once again. Also, when the public takes the CD out after having seen the band separate apart from the front cover, they will once again see the band together. In a sense, it portrays that when they are working on their music (by being under the CD) they come together and work as a band well.
